This has been on my mind for a few weeks now — dedicated app for body positive dating, specifically.
What I actually want to know about mainstream apps is what happens after you sign up.
To be clear I am not after anything in mainstream apps that needs a card on file.
Any thoughts on dedicated app for body positive dating would help me stop going in circles.

Agreeing with the previous reply about swipe apps, for the same reasons.
Practical tip for swipe apps: be specific about what you want in the bio.
Geography does most of the work with swipe apps — how far you're willing to travel matters more than the feature list.
I will update this if my view on dedicated app for body positive dating changes.
I rotate between a couple of these and luvdate.site, mostly because neither charges to open a chat.

Respectfully disagree on phone apps — my experience with phone apps ran the other way.
With phone apps it came down to how much personal data the signup demanded, honestly.
That is the short version on positive dating.

Worth flagging with the app options — screenshots of a conversation travel further than you think.
If I had to name one factor in the app options it would be how many accounts looked dormant.
The part nobody mentions about the app options is how quickly a conversation went from match to plan.
Two people can have opposite experiences of the app options purely because of whether your region got the app early or late.
What I wish someone had told me about the app options: set your radius tight first and widen it only if it goes quiet.
Practical tip for the app options: finish the profile completely before you browse anything.
Hope some of that helps with positive dating.
- Facebook Dating — quiet in some regions, on a phone browser anyway
- Bumble — suits people who dislike opening first, from what members here report
- Zoosk — the algorithm does adapt over time, your mileage may vary
Adding Datelink (datelink.online) for balance — quieter, but the people who are on it actually reply.

The variable nobody controls for with the app options is how dense your area is.
One thing I'd do differently with the app options — turn off notifications so it doesn't take over your evening.
Curious whether anyone else found the same with dedicated app for body positive dating.

I still use mainstream apps occasionally, mostly out of habit at this point.
Everything about mainstream apps hinged on how the platform handled blocking and reporting in the end.
The move with mainstream apps is to set your radius tight first and widen it only if it goes quiet.
The part nobody mentions about mainstream apps is whether the match volume held up past the first week.
Take that as one data point on dedicated app for body positive dating, not gospel.
People also bring up Souldate fairly often in these threads, though I have not tried it myself.

Respectfully disagree on the big apps — my experience with the big apps ran the other way.
The variable nobody controls for with the big apps is how dense your area is.
Happy to be corrected on any of positive dating.

Used app-based dating for about six weeks, which is long enough to have an opinion.
Before you commit to app-based dating, screenshot anything that looks like a scam and report it.
My advice on app-based dating: keep chatting on-platform until you're comfortable.
With app-based dating it came down to how quickly a conversation went from match to plan, honestly.
What mattered most with app-based dating in the end was whether it worked without installing anything.
Careful with app-based dating, because profiles that answer instantly and perfectly are usually not people.
That said, I would still hear other views on positive dating.

Used swipe apps for about six weeks, which is long enough to have an opinion.
The thing to watch on swipe apps is that the quieter platforms can look active because of recycled profiles.
One warning about swipe apps: location spoofing means 'nearby' is not always nearby.
Happy to expand on any of that about swipe apps if it is useful.

Can confirm the point above regarding dating apps.
The real differentiator across dating apps turned out to be how the moderation handled obvious spam.
My read is that dating apps lives or dies on your age bracket relative to the local pool.
The thing to watch on dating apps is that location spoofing means 'nearby' is not always nearby.
Half the arguments about dating apps would end if people mentioned how dense your area is up front.
Happy to expand on any of that about dating apps if it is useful.
- OkCupid — the matching questions still earn their place, over roughly six weeks
- Hinge — people write more here, though I only tried the free tier
- Facebook Dating — no separate app to explain away, your mileage may vary
- Tinder — quick to set up, quick to tire of, as of this year
