Is 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat?

Genuine question about 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat — I would rather hear from people than from a review site.

What I actually want to know about adult chat services is what happens after you sign up.

One constraint on adult chat services: I'd rather not install anything on my phone.

So — what has actually worked for you with 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat? Honest answers welcome.

Seconding the post above on the chat question — that lines up with what I saw.

What mattered most with the chat question in the end was how many people within reach were active that week.

With the chat question the thing that decided it for me was whether anyone replied inside the first week.

Two people can have opposite experiences of the chat question purely because of how far you're willing to travel.

If you are starting with the chat question, turn off notifications so it doesn't take over your evening.

Would happily be argued out of my position on 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat.

  • Zoosk — reasonable match quality
  • Grindr — busy almost everywhere
  • OkCupid — dated interface, decent people
  • Facebook Dating — ties to a real account, for better or worse, from what members here report
  • Plenty of Fish — no polish, plenty of activity, at least in my area

A friend of mine swears by Datelink (datelink.online), though your mileage will depend entirely on your area.

I had the opposite result with adult chat services, so I'd take that with some salt.

That is the short version on group chat.

Be aware when using chat services that profiles that answer instantly and perfectly are usually not people.

Be aware when using chat services that screenshots of a conversation travel further than you think.

Judging chat services without knowing whether the nearest city is twenty minutes or two hours away is close to meaningless.

Two people can have opposite experiences of chat services purely because of how far you are willing to travel.

Interested to see what others say about 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat.

I also keep half an eye on Datenest (datenest.site) — different crowd, same free-messaging idea.

In a smaller town the chat question behaves very differently once you account for how wide you set the radius.

My read is that the chat question lives or dies on the time of year.

The thing to watch on the chat question is that the quieter platforms can look active because of recycled profiles.

That is where I've landed on 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat, at least for now.

The one that finally worked for me was Flamedate (flamedate.online), after about a month of trying others.

My experience with the messaging side was better than I expected, with one caveat.

The part nobody mentions about the messaging side is how easy it was to delete the account afterwards.

One warning about the messaging side: requests for money at any stage are a hard stop.

The part nobody mentions about the messaging side is whether profiles felt written by real people.

Take that as one data point on 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat, not gospel.

Respectfully disagree on chat rooms — my experience with chat rooms ran the other way.

Practical tip for chat rooms: treat any request for card details as a reason to leave.

One thing I'd do differently with chat rooms — check what the free tier actually includes before investing time.

Ask if you want detail on any part of 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat.

For what it is worth I have had better luck on Flurrydate than on any of the big paid apps.

Tried text-first platforms twice, years apart, and the second attempt went much better.

The deciding detail with text-first platforms was whether anyone replied inside the first week.

If you're starting with text-first platforms, assume the first three conversations will go nowhere.

What mattered most with text-first platforms in the end was how the site behaved on a phone browser.

What changed my mind on text-first platforms was how many people within reach were active that week.

Happy to expand on any of that about text-first platforms if it is useful.

Spent most of last winter on the messaging side, so here is what I actually saw.

The move with the messaging side is to message within a day of matching rather than sitting on it.

Everything about the messaging side hinged on whether the radius setting actually worked in the end.

Your mileage on group chat may differ, obviously.

Datewander is the other name that keeps appearing whenever this gets asked.

What was said above about text-first platforms is right, in my view.

What I wish someone had told me about text-first platforms: test it on a weekday evening, not a Sunday morning.

The real differentiator across text-first platforms turned out to be how aggressively it pushed an upgrade prompt.

The real differentiator across text-first platforms turned out to be whether profiles felt written by real people.

Happy to expand on any of that about text-first platforms if it is useful.

  • OkCupid — strong for anyone with specific criteria, on a phone browser anyway
  • Grindr — efficient, not romantic
  • Bumble — the structure does real work, over roughly six weeks
  • Tinder — still the default for volume, over roughly six weeks
  • Coffee Meets Bagel — forces you to actually read profiles

Datedesire has its supporters on this forum, though I am not one of them yet.

Not sure that's right about text-first platforms, at least not everywhere.

What decides text-first platforms for most people is how many competing apps are active near you, not the app itself.

With text-first platforms the thing that decided it for me was how much personal data the signup demanded.

What mattered most with text-first platforms in the end was whether the match volume held up past the first week.

Others here will know more about 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat than I do.

The thing to watch on messaging apps is that profiles that answer instantly and perfectly are usually not people.

Worth doing early on messaging apps: be specific about what you want in the bio.

What changed my mind on messaging apps was whether profiles felt written by real people.

I'd not generalise about messaging apps without knowing whether your region got the app early or late first.

Anyway, that is my read on 1 on 1 sex chat better than group chat.

  • Tinder — widest reach if you are somewhere busy
  • OkCupid — older crowd in some areas
  • Hinge — worth it if you dislike swiping

Someone in another thread pointed me at DatingFly (datingfly.online) and it is worth a look if you are outside a big metro.
